A film that has been a blockbuster since the day of release, a film that Deepika Padukone and Ranbir Kapoor signed without even reading the script, a film that became a comfort movie for every 2000s kid, and a film that is no more just a film but an emotion!
Directed by Ayan Mukherjee, it was his second directorial film, which was again a superhit after his first directorial movie, “Wake Up Sid.” Released on 31st May 2013, it was declared as a blockbuster. The leading stars Deepika Padukone as Naina Talwar and Ranbir Kapoor as Kabir Thapar aka Bunny became one the most famous and loved characters of all time. The story has a narration from Naina’s perspective and that’s what makes the film relatable and instantly strikes the chord. Earlier Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma were considered for this character but eventually went to Deepika Padukone. And Ranbir Kapoor absolutely did justice with Bunny’s chirpy character. He was so absorbed and went into the skin of his character that Ranbir Kapoor got his ear pierced just for the sake of the character. Also, for the role of Avinash, aka Avi, it was first approached by Sunny Deol, but as he was busy in “Yamla Pagla Diwana 2”, it ended up with Aditya Roy Kapoor. And how can we forget our third favourite character from the film, Kalki Koechlin as the one and only Aditi. This movie was her one of the best performances. Every song of the film is a megahit, be it “Subhanallah,” “Badtameez Dil,” “Ghagra,” “Illahi,” “Balam Pichkari,” or “Dilli Vali Girlfriend.” We have all grooved to these songs at every function and every party. The dialogues of the film has a separate fanbase and they are all over the internet in the form of memes and content. Some of them are as follows:-
Recently the film completed 10 years and the fans on social media went crazy! The internet was flooded with the memes which were really heart warming and nostalgic. And just to add a cherry on a cake, the film cast reunited to celebrate the 10 years and the pictures went viral like a forest fire.
Also, do you know that Ayan Mukherjee did a cameo in YJHD? Flabbergasting right! Here are some pictures:-
In the song Badtameez Dil, this guy right before Ranbir Kapoor who’s holding a Champagne bottle is none other than Ayan Mukherjee.
And in this scene which is right before the song Kabira, the guy in the red and white shirt sitting right next to Ranbir Kapoor is again, Ayan Mukherjee.
