Budget 2023 session of Maharashtra state has brought promising relief to the people of Maharashtra as government of Maharashtra announced new metro, railway projects and modernization of various bus stations in the state of Maharashtra.
On 9th March, Chief Minister of Maharashtra presented first budget of the state of Maharashtra with Deputy Chief Minister, Devendra Fadnavis. In the first budget, new metro, railway and bus station projects were announced.
During his statement before the Assembly on Thursday, Devendra Fadnavis, the deputy chief minister of Maharashtra, disclosed a budget of 40,000 crores for metro rail projects in various regions of the state. The central government has been requested to approve new metro projects in Thane, Nashik, the Pimpri-Chinchwad to Nigdi corridor of the Pune Metro, and Swargate to Katraj.
Mumbai Metro line 10 which will run 9.2 kilometers from Gaimukh to Shivaji Chowk on Mira Road, its estimated cost is 4,476 crores. The 12.77 km (miles) long Mumbai Metro line 11 which will run from Wadala to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus, 8,739 crore is the anticipated cost and 20.75 km long metro line 12-Kalyan to Taloja’s cost estimate is 5,865 crores.
A 40 km stretch of the Nagpur Metro’s first phase was made accessible to traffic. The Central Government has approved the second phase of the extension, and work totaling 43.80 km will begin in 2023–2024 at a cost of 6,708 crore.
Maharashtra government has also announced development for railway and bus sector. It includes:
> Funding for Nashik-Pune High Speed Rail
> Solapur-Tuljapur-Dharashiv Broad Gauge : 84 km / Rs 452 crore
> Nanded – Bidar, Phaltan-Pandharpur, Khamgaon-Jalna, Varora-Chimur-Kampa. The state will give 50 percent share to these 4 projects.
> 25 new flyovers to free up state railway gates under Setu Bandhan
> About 400 crores for modernization and reconstruction of 100 bus stands
These projects will help to boost the infrastructure development of Maharashtra to the greater extent. They will also boost the development in the transportation sector.
