Model-turned-actor Aditya Singh Rajput was found dead at his Andheri home on Monday. His house help found him unconscious in the bathroom and immediately rushed him to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The police have filed an accidental death report (ADR) and are awaiting the autopsy results.
According to the Oshiwara police, Rajput lived in an 11th-floor flat at Lashkaria Greenwood Apartments in Oshiwara. On Monday, around 2:30 pm, Rajput’s house help, who lived nearby, heard a thud coming from the bathroom. Upon investigating, he found Rajput lying unconscious.
“He with the help of the watchman put Rajput on the bed and later called a doctor from a clinic located on the building’s ground floor. The doctor checked him and found no pulse and advised that he be immediately hospitalised. The house help and the watchman then rushed the actor to Jogeshwari trauma center, where doctors declared him dead. Later, his body was shifted to the Cooper hospital for postmortem,” a police officer said.
“We have already started the investigation and are all waiting for the post-mortem reports to ascertain his exact cause of death,” said Krishnakant Upadhyay, deputy commissioner of police, (detection-1) who is holding additional charge of DCP zone-9 office.
The senior officer added that Rajput had been unwell for the past few days, complaining of cold and cough. He had been consulting a doctor for these symptoms.
While there have been claims of a possible drug overdose and Rajput attending a party the night before, the police are thoroughly investigating all aspects. “We have filed an ADR and are examining the matter from all possible angles,” the senior officer stated.
The Oshiwara police are in the process of recording statements from the house help and the watchman who were present at Rajput’s residence. They are also planning to examine his mobile phone.
Rajput’s mother has been informed about the incident, and she is en route to Mumbai from Delhi.
