Mumbai: On this Friday night Mumbai Police uncovered a high- profile sex racket and arrested a Bhojpuri actress in connection with the case. The actress is identified as Suman kumari (24) and she is taken into custody after a raid by the social services section of the police.
An officer said They received information about prostitution racket operating from Royal Palms in Goregaon where models were supplied for prostitution. A team conducted a raid at the Hotel. police said the raid was conducted at the Royal Palms Hotel in the Aarey colony neighborhood. The police dispatched a woman with a fake name to the hotel in an effort to apprehend the offenders. The actress fell for the trap and agreed to the deal. She was caught while negotiating a price of 50,000 to 80,000 rupees for each model. The investigation is going on to identify and apprehend other individuals involved in the sex racket.
An FIR has been filed under sections of the prevention of immoral Trafficking Act (PITA). She would be placed under the arrest, officials said. Cops are on lookout for another accused- a man, who was allegedly the link between Suman kumari and the clients.
Police rescued three models. Further investigation is being done, “the Crime Branch said in a statement on Friday”. According to the police, the actress Suman kumari supplies models who would come to Mumbai to make career in films and had fallen in hard times struggling to get money to maintain their lifestyle Suman kumari contacted them and forced them into prostitution, the police said. The actress worked as the broker in this high profile sex racket, who supplies models to customers.
Suman kumari has worked in many Bhojpuri films including ‘Laila Majnu’, ‘Baap Numbari Beta 10 Numbari’, ‘jomestic Box’, among others. She has also featured in songs in various languages including Hindi, Punjabi and Bhojpuri according to the police.
