Sanjiv Jeeva, a gangster believed to be associated with gangster-politician Mukhtar Ansari, was shot and killed outside the Lucknow Civil Court. Jeeva was an accused in the murder case of senior BJP leader Brahm Dutt Dwivedi.
According to reports, he was shot by an unknown assailant dressed as a lawyer while being brought to court for a hearing. Unfortunately, Jeeva died on the spot.
During the incident, a girl sustained bullet injuries, and a police official suffered head injuries. Both were immediately taken to the Civil Hospital in Lucknow for medical attention.
Video footage of the incident showed Jeeva lying on the ground while officials tried to control the bleeding.
Mukhtar Ansari, who is said to be a gangster-politician, had been sentenced to life imprisonment just a few days before this incident. He was convicted for the murder of Awadhesh Rai, the brother of former Congress MLA Ajay Rai, which occurred on August 3, 1991. A
ccording to lawyers, Ansari and a group of assailants arrived at the residence of Ajay Rai and his brother in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, and fired shots at Awadhesh Rai, leading to his death.
In response to the attack on his brother Awadhesh Rai, Ajay Rai retaliated by firing from his licensed pistol. His counterattack caused the assailants to flee the scene and abandon their vehicle.
Following the incident, Awadhesh Rai was quickly taken to Kabirchaura hospital for medical treatment. However, despite the efforts of the medical staff, doctors declared him dead.
