Speaking to the media on Wednesday following the release of the Union Budget 2023, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw stated that the hydrogen train will debut by December’23 on historic routes like the Kalka-Shimla line and others. The train will eventually be extended to additional routes. The train will be completely planned and produced in India, the Union Minister continued.
The government’s goal of promoting green growth is being met by the running of the hydrogen-powered train. Nirmala Sitharaman, the finance minister, emphasised the national hydrogen mission in the Union Budget 2023–24. In order to achieve the zero carbon emission goals as a clean energy source, the usage of hydrogen as fuel will offer greater benefits for green transportation technologies.
For the upcoming fiscal year, Indian Railways would get a capital outlay of Rs. 2.41 lakh crore.
The allotment is around nine times what has been spent since 2013–14.
