Unfortunately, this isn’t the first time such horrific incident has occurred. The United States has seen a significant increase in gun violence in recent years, with 2020 being the deadliest year on record in terms of gun-related injuries. The term “mass shooting” is often used to describe incidents of gun violence where four or more people are injured or killed, and unfortunately, such incidents have become all too common in the US.
While there is no single definition of a mass shooting in the US, the Gun Violence Archive defines it as an incident where four or more people, not including the shooter, are shot and injured or killed.
