Indian tennis legend Sania mirza on Sunday march 5, present herself to farewell match at Lal bahadur tennis stadium Hyderabad, the place where it all started. The exhibition game were watched by many big faces including Yuvraj Singh, mc stan, former Indian cricket captain Mohammed Azharuddin and union law minister Kiren Rijiju.
Having arrived at the crossroads of her life, Sania turned emotional while giving her farewell speech and said, “The greatest honour for her has been to play for the country for 20 years. It is every athlete’s dream to represent their country at the highest level. Was able to do that”.
On this occasion, Sania remembered every instance of her wonderful career and shared all the laughs and joys of her tennis journey. She was honoured with many big titles. The six-time grand slam winner (three in women’s doubles and as many in mixed doubles) played two mixed doubles and won both of them. And broke down to the tears .
“I think today we are saying a great farewell to Sania. What she has done for tennis for women in India and all over the world, I think, is an example. I wish her all the best,” Azharuddin told reporters.
Rijiju, who was formerly the union sports minister, said, “I have come to Hyderabad for Sania Mirza’s send-off, her farewell match. I am delighted to see so many people turning up for this. Sania Mirza is an inspiration not just for Indian tennis but for Indian sports too,” said Rijiju.
At last, Sania waved at her fans, who were mostly schoolchildren with high hopes.
