The unfortunate rail accident took place in Odisha today. 12841- Shalimar Coromandel Express collided with a goods train leaving across 50 people dead and 350 injured!
This accident occurred around evening 7 PM on 1st June on it’s way to Chennai Central station from Shalimar Station, Kolkata. The train derailed near Baleshwar. According to some railway enquiries regarding this accident, they stated that the derailment of this train occurred before it collided with the goods train. After it’s derailment, Shalimar Coromandel Express coaches were rammed by another train called 12864 Yashwantpur-Howrah Superfast Express.
Officers of National Disaster Relief Force (NDRF) are looking for trapped passengers and cutting through the debris to reach them. Medical colleges and hospitals in Balasore have been alerted and 60 ambulances have been reached to the rescue.
Prime minister Mr. Narendra Modi tweet about this incident and stated that he is in contact with Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw regarding the same.
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee tweeted about this incident and has ordered to send 6 member team to look into this incident
