On 24th June, the first Unit of Wagner forces reached Moscow. The Russian army has already started the preparations to Counter the Wagner forces outside the Russian capital. As per the recent reports, the Russian army has also established an air bridge to Moscow and is flying in troops from across the counties. Some sources even claim that some Russian units are pulling out of Ukraine and are returning to Russia in an effort to stop the Wagner group’s advancing forces.
The Wagner group also announced that most of the Russian Army units in the Lipetsk region has switched sides and joined the hands with Wagner group. Some reports also claim that Wagner group soldiers are leaving their missions in Syria and Africa to join the coup.
A video declaring the Russian Volunteer Corps’ participation in the coup was released. “We encourage all RDK supporters to get involved. Each of us has a special opportunity to decide our future and the future of our motherland.” said Russian Volunteer Corps in the released video.
While many Russian political leaders have fled Moscow including Russian President Vladimir Putin. The business jet of oligarch Arkady Rotenberg, who is very close to Putin, left Moscow and landed in Baku at 15:04. The plane of Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov left Moscow at 7:00 am and landed in Dalaman, Turkey at 12:06 pm. Chechnya leader Ramzan Kadyrov, who has a substantial military, has ordered his troops to surround the Wagner mercenaries currently occupying Rostov.
