New Delhi : The Kuki Women who were stripped naked and gang-raped during riots in Manipur filed a petition in the Supreme Court. The petition is against the central and state governments.
The petition demands that the Supreme Court take voluntary action and order a fair investigation. The victims have filed different petitions related to the sexual assault incident. The petitions also demand that they be prevented from being identified by the public.
The women who were gang-raped have also filed a petition while the Supreme Court is considering the case taken on its own initiative.
The Supreme Court criticized the central government after the footage of young women being gang-raped by a mob and made to walk naked on the road in broad daylight came to light. The bench chaired by Chief Justice DY Chandrachud had earlier taken up the matter suo-moto and sought a report from the government.
