Former Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf passed away at a hospital in Dubai on Sunday, February 5th, after a prolonged illness. He breathed his last at the American hospital in Dubai after a prolonged illness.
He was 79 years old. Military sources confirmed his death to Al Jazeera. Musharraf who was in Dubai since March 2016 was undergoing treatment for amyloidosis. Amyloidosis is a rare type of illness occurs when an abnormal protein called amyloid builds up in organs and interferes with their normal function.
As per the family’s last statement, Musharraf was going through a ‘Difficult stage where his recovery was not possible, and organs were malfunctioning.’ His family is reportedly meeting to discuss whether his body will be brought back to Pakistan.
The military’s media wing released a brief statement expressing their “heartfelt condolences” on the demise of the former military ruler.
Musharraf was born on August 11, 1943, in Delhi and completed his early education at St Patrick’s High School in Karachi. He later pursued higher education at Forman Christian College in Lahore. His mixed legacy will be the consequences of his time in power.
