Indian politician Eknath Shinde is a very popular political figure in India. He is the President of ‘Balasahebanchi Shiv Sena’ and currently serving as the 20th and current Chief Minister of Maharashtra. He founded ‘Balasahebanchi Shiv Sena’ as a result of the split in ‘Shiv Sena’ due to the political crisis in Maharashtra in 2022.
POLITICAL CAREER
He was introduced to politics in the early 1980’s by Balasaheb Thackeray and Anand Dighe as they helped him become a part of ‘Shiv Sena’. The same year he also became the ‘Shakha Pramukh’ of the Kisan nagar and proved his excellences to everyone. In 2001 he was elected the ‘Leader of the house” in Thane Municipal Corporation, in 2005 appointed as the district head of ‘Shiv Sena’, in 2019 he was appointed as the ‘Cabinet minister of Public Health and Family Welfare’, in 2020 he became the ‘Guardian minister of Thane district’, among others.
CM Shinde has been an active participant in various projects and initiative to benefit the people of Maharashtra, such as the initiative to provide basic amenities like water, education, and healthcare to rural areas among other projects.
EARLY LIFE
CM Shinde was born to shri. Sambhaji Navlu Shinde and smt. Gangubai Sambhaji Shinde on the 9th February, 1964 in the Jawali taluka in Satara district. His family then moved to Thane for livelihood.He completed his education up to 11th std at Mangala High School & Junior College, Thane. In order to help his family financially he left his studies after that and became an auto rickshaw driver during the 1980’s. After entering politics he resumed his studies and graduated with Bachelor of Arts degree from Yashwantrao Chavan Maharashtra Open University in the year 2020 scoring 77.25%.
UNPOPULAR FACT
A 2022 Indian Marathi-language biographical drama film by Pravin Tarde covered the role of Eknath Shinde in Shiv Sena and portrayed him as the loyal and most trustworthy man of Anand Dighe. CM Shinde’s character in the movie was played by Kshitij Date.
