Former deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia’s bail plea in the city excise policy case has been reserved by the Delhi court; the further matter will be heard on March 10.
The Aam Aadmi Party leader, arrested on February 26 in direct connection with the city’s liquor policy case after being interrogated for nearly eight hours.
The CBI put him under complete five-day custody, which ended today, and sought an extension of Sisodia’s remand for three more days. In his bail application, the AAP leader said that “no fruitful purpose will be served by keeping him in custody as all recoveries have already been made.”
The central bureau of investigation (CBI), in a statement, said that “Manish Sisodia was arrested as he gave evasive replies and did not cooperate in the investigation despite being confronted with the evidence to the contrary.” Now Sisodia has moved to the Supreme Court against the CBI’s charges.
But the Supreme Court said the file should have gone to the high court, so Sisodia withdrew his actioned file application and moved to city court. A Delhi court fixed March 10 for hearing the bail plea of a former Delhi deputy CM, Manish Sisodia.
