The launch of INS Vindhyagiri took place at the GRSE facility in Kolkata, India. The warship is part of the Project 17A program, which aims to enhance India’s naval capabilities. INS Vindhyagiri, a stealth frigate of the Indian Navy, is equipped with several notable features. INS Vindhyagiri incorporates improved stealth features to minimize its radar cross-section, making it harder to detect by enemy forces. The ship’s design is characterized by ash, black, and red colors, similar to the previous P17A stealth frigates. The frigate is armed with advanced weapon systems, including guided-missile launchers and anti-submarine warfare capabilities. These weapons enhance its offensive and defensive capabilities, enabling it to engage threats effectively.
INS Vindhyagiri is also equipped with state-of-the-art platform management systems. The ship’s name, Vindhyagiri, pays tribute to the Vindhyagiri hills in Karnataka and its predecessor, the “INS Vindhyagiri” Leander Class ASW Frigate.
