In Uttar Pradesh’s Fatehpur a man was accused of raping and murdering a teenage girl. The girl and her family had attended a wedding on June 22, but she went missing from the wedding hall at around 11 pm.
Her father reported her missing to the police, and the following day, on June 23, she was found bleeding in an under-construction house near the wedding venue.
She was admitted to a hospital where she remained for three days but tragically succumbed to her injuries on Monday.
After the girl’s death, her relatives and members of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP), a Hindu organization, demanded that the accused’s house be demolished.
Subsequently, on Tuesday, the house of the accused was bulldozed in the presence of police officials. The police had already arrested one person out of the four individuals allegedly involved in the incident.
A VHP leader alleged that the case of rape and murder was an instance of ‘love jihad.’ According to the VHP leader’s claim, the accused individual, who was a Muslim, allegedly pretended to be a Hindu and deceived the girl into meeting him, after which he raped her.
