South sensation and Telugu actor Bellamkonda Sreenivas is soon going to make his debut in Bollywood with Chatrapathi. The movie is a remake of the same-named SS Rajamouli film from 2005, which starred Prabhas.
Sreenivas has proved his mettle in the Telugu industry. He talked candidly about his debut Hindi movie at the trailer launch stating he was in seventh or eighth grade, when he watched the Prabhas-starrer film.
“I came out of the theatre all pumped up and energised, a changed person,” said Sreenivas, adding that he intends to achieve a similar exhilaration with his Hindi rendition. He said that rather than making a pan-Indian movie, director VV Vinayak chose to tackle the Chatrapathi remake as a full-fledged Hindi film. According to Sreenivas, KV Vijayendra Prasad developed a fresh script that will appeal to a modern audience.
The actor admitted that before he granted his approval, he needed a few days to consider if the Chatrapathi remake would be the ideal movie for him to make his Hindi cinema debut. He claimed that after seeing Prabhas’ Chatrapathi again, he was persuaded that he shouldn’t pass up this chance.
“Rajamouli Sir approved of our movie and was pleased that we were doing a remake. In honour of his contribution to Telugu cinema, we are paying him an homage with this movie, this is the least we could have done”, stated Sreenivas at the trailer launch.
The run duration would be a little over two hours; Sreenivas said when asked how his movie will vary from the original. He added that given the modern technological advancements and safety measures available, they tried to improve some of the action episodes. They were constrained back then. With safety belts, jump off 300 feet nowadays can be achieved.
In addition the film also stars Nushratt Bharuccha as the leading lady. Alongside Bhagyashree, and Sharad Kelkar are playing pivotal roles.
