Gadar 2, a movie starring Sunny Deol, has passed the $400 million milestone, and as it enters its third week, its earnings are beginning to decline. The movie’s collections have regularly been in the double digits since its August 11 opening with Rs 40.1 crore, but on its 14th day of release, the film’s daily collections fell into the single digits. According to industry tracker Sacnilk, Gadar 2 earned Rs 8.20 crore on Thursday, bringing its domestic nett earnings to Rs 418.90 crore.
The first week of Gadar 2‘s release, which also featured an extended weekend because of the Fourth of July holiday, was very successful. In actuality, the movie’s domestic box office earnings peaked on August 15 when they reached Rs 55.4 crore. With the Friday release of Ayushmann Khurrana’s Dream Girl 2, Gadar 2’s box office receipts may continue to decline.
After Pathaan, which earned Rs 543.05 crore throughout the course of its theatrical run, the Anil Sharma movie had the second-highest Hindi box office performance of the year. It appears improbable that Gadar 2 would be able to surpass Pathaan given that the Sunny Deol movie is still 124.15 crore rupees behind the Shah Rukh Khan movie and that its box office receipts are now in the single digits. On September 7, Jawan, starring Shah Rukh Khan, will also hit theaters, presumably displacing Gadar 2 in terms of screen count.
The 2001 film Gadar: Ek Prem Katha, which also starred Sunny and Ameesha Patel, is followed by Gadar 2. The movie cost 60 crore rupees to produce, according to director Anil Sharma, and given that it has generated nearly seven times that amount, it is unquestionably the year’s biggest hit.
