Along with the release of Bhola on the occasion of Ram Navami, adding up to the excitement of all Ajay Devgan fans the teaser for Maidaan has been released today on YouTube. This biographical sports drama will take us on a journey to the Golden Era of football in India. The film is scheduled for theatrical release on 23 June 2023.
The official synopsis describes Maidaan as “the true story of an unknown hero who created history and records for India such that even 60 years later, we are not able to match up to those accomplishments in the most played sport in the world, football.”
Ajay Devgan will play the role of Syed Abdul Rahim, a football coach who is regarded as the architect of modern Indian football. “Maidaan is my personal favorite. I rarely say this, it’s one of the best films I’ve done. It has shaped up very well. Every department of the film, the storytelling, the direction, the performances, everything looks outstanding,” Ajay Devgn told Variety. “It’s a sports coach, but sports is the backdrop. Basically, it’s a very human story of a man and his struggle and his dreams, and his family. So that’s lovely,” Devgn added.
The film also stars Priyamani and Gajraj Rao along with Bengali actor Rudranil Ghosh. The film is directed by Amit Sharma, written by Ritesh Shah, and produced by Boney Kapoor, Akash Chawla, Arunava Joy Sengupta, and Zee Studios. Music is composed by A.R Rahman.
