We have seen human robots in films and have always wondered if they were real! While we keep dreaming, the scientists have already sown the seeds. Meet Kyra, India’s first virtual influencer.
According to reports, there are around 150–200 virtual influencers all around the world, and Kyra is the desi version of them. She is 21 years old, was created by Himanshu Goel of Top Social India, an influencer marketing program, and lives in Mumbai. With more than 225k followers on Instagram, her bio says “dream chaser, model, and traveler,” and to your surprise, she also runs her own YouTube channel. She has also collaborated with brands like Boat and Amazon Prime Video.
Online marketing has grown rapidly in recent years, and there are many influencers working for various brands on Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, Snapchat, and other platforms. They make content using picture posts, reels, YouTube shorts, and short- and long-duration videos. Virtual Influencers or CGI influencers are actually computer generated avatars who looks exactly like humans and are a substitute for human influencers and much cheaper for the brand to maintain than the real ones. According to reports, a virtual influencers survey conducted by the Influencer Marketing Factory in 2022 found that 58% of respondents follow at least one virtual influencer, and 35% of consumers said they had purchased the product promoted by them. Lil Miquela, a 19-year-old model and musician who is half Brazilian and half American, was the first virtual influencer to make her digital debut in 2018 on Instagram, where she has 2.9 million followers and is currently worth $6 million.
