Ahmadabad: The case was filed in a lower court (district court) on Thursday. The judgement of 2 year imprisonment of INC congress leader Rahul Gandhi in charge of defamation was passed by Surat court . A video from 2019 went viral on internet from Rahul gandhi’s speech in which he said “How come all the thieves have common surname ‘Modi’ ,”. A complaint was filled by BJP MLA and former Gujarat minister Purnesh Modi.
In 2019 this case was brought to the local court of Gujarat in Surat , Rahul Gandhi was found guilty in criminal defamation case over his remarks about PM Narendra Modi , but for numerous reason he was granted on bail and all the sentences were suspended for few days. To give him a proper duration to move or appeal his case in upper court . once again Gandhi will take this case to high court ,but there will be a major setback and blow to the congress party if Rahul Gandhi got disqualified from parliament and got imprisonment as Rahul Gandhi is a very important key for INC congress in 2024 elections.
Many political leaders came in support of congress leader Rahul Gandhi including AAP MLA Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal and CM of Tamil Nadu . many congress party members said “ it is a fear in eye of Modi govt before Elections of 2024″.
