Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is on his United Kingdom visit from last week and falls prey in the eyes of the BJP after his statement over Indian democracy and attack on minorities. He addressed students at the university’s Judge Business School. From his Bharat Jodo Yatra to the alleged threat to Indian democracy.
- In his speech, Rahul said, “Indian democracy is under pressure and under attack.” The institutional framework which is required for a democracy…. Parliament, free press, the judiciary, just the idea of mobilisation — these are all getting constrained. We are facing an attack on the basic structure of democracy.”
After the video clip went viral over the internet, many BJP leaders lashed out at Rahul Gandhi, saying he is habitual towards insulting our nation, and via this statement he showed a huge disrespect to our freedom fighters who fought for independence and democracy.
Senior BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad said in a press conference: “This is Rahul Gandhi; whenever he goes abroad, he insults India… He does this whenever he goes abroad and calls China the symbol of goodwill. The country should see his true face. We condemn his childish statement,” said Prasad on Friday.
Sooner or later, Rahul Gandhi termed the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) a “fundamentalist” and “fascist” organisation. Rahul Gandhi said, “The nature of democratic contest in India has completely changed, and the reason is that one organisation called the RSS—a fundamentalist, fascist organization—has basically captured pretty much all of India`s institutions.
- Bjp and RSS felt disrespected, and many stood against it. Malini Mehra said, “I am feeling wretched about the condition of my country . My father was an RSS man, proudly so; he would not recognise the country, bless his soul. How can we engage and re-empower our democracy?” Malini Mehra said this to Rahul Gandhi, identifying herself as an Indian citizen.
- Rahul Gandhi pointed at a Sikh and Muslim student sitting in the audience at Cambridge University and questioned their identities, as they are Sikh and Muslim from India. Further continued and said “But in India, you are recognised as a second-class citizen of India.”.
The BJP breaks its silence over it “Is Rahul Gandhi working as an agent for the secret organisation that aims to defame Indian sovereignty?” sambit patra asked at a press conference slammed Rahul Gandhi over remarks on Indian democracy at Cambridge University, London.
