On Saturday, February 8, 2025, the BJP made a triumphant return to power in Delhi after a gap of more than 26 years. The party is on track to snap its 27-year drought in Delhi, as it is expected to win about two-thirds of the votes.

Results of the 2025 Delhi Election LIVE:

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has been removed from power in Delhi by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The BJP is expected to win 48 out of 70 assembly seats in Delhi, which would allow them to easily surpass the halfway point required to form a government in the union territory.
The Election Commission has stated that Arvind Kejriwal’s AAP won 22 out of the 70 seats in the Delhi Assembly, which means they lost the election. Meanwhile, Congress fell apart once again, and it has no seat in its court. After all of the votes have been tabulated, the final result will be announced.

What did PM Modi say at BJP headquarters?

Prime Minister Narendra Modi assured BJP employees hours after the Election Commission declared the outcome of the Delhi elections that the CAG report on Delhi will be presented in the first Assembly session following party government formation. “These folks were creating a sheeshmahal while the world was struggling with the Covid epidemic,” he remarked. Modi expressed his gratitude to the Delhi people for their mandate, promising to return their love in the form of development. The development of Delhi at double the speed will help us pay back a debt resulting from the double-engine government of Delhi.

Who is winning Delhi?
Based on the most recent data provided by the Election Commission, below are the current trends in the Delhi Election Results:

BJP: 48
AAP: 22
Congress: 00

Arvind Kejriwal, leader of the AAP, lost to Parvesh Verma from the BJP in the important New Delhi district. Manish Sisodia, a former deputy chief minister and top AAP leader, accepted his loss in Jangpura and hoped that the BJP would help improve the lives of people in the area.

What went wrong for the AAP?

In April 2024, AAP leaders, including Arvind Kejriwal, were imprisoned during a critical pre-election time, undermining the party’s electoral prospects. Their absence hampered campaign momentum, causing internal dissatisfaction among members, notably on the party’s performance in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi. The BJP focused on concerns such as the exorbitant expense of renovating Kejriwal’s mansion and administration shortcomings such as inconsistent water delivery and blocked projects, blaming the AAP’s feud with the Lieutenant Governor. The continual power struggle and governance flaws harmed the AAP’s election chances substantially.
