PM Modi met UK PM Rishi Sunak on the side-lines of the 17th edition of the G20 Summit on Tuesday. Hours after the meeting of both PM’s, UK greenlighted 3000 UK visa applications by Indians. The British government said that ‘India is the first Visa-national country to be benefited with the Young professional scheme’. PM Modi took to Twitter posting a picture with PM Sunak and wrote, ‘ Was great to meet PM @RishiSunak in Bali. India attaches great importance to robust ties. We discussed ways to increase commercial linkages, raise the scope of security cooperation in context of India’s defence reforms and make people-to-people ties even stronger’ PM Sunak’s office also tweeted, ‘ Today the UK-India Young professionals scheme was confirmed, offering 3000 places to 18-30 year-old degree educated Indian nationals to come to the UK to live and work for up to two years’ This highlighted the strength of the ‘UK-India Migration and Mobility Partnership’ agreed last year.
