The social media giant has started taking out the blue ticks from users who are not subscribed to paid Twitter Blue subscription. This created a dramatic outburst among the users when they witnessed their favorite personalities’ accounts without the verified mark.
A blue tick mark is a symbol of a verified account which simply means that the profile is distinguished. This approach was taken by various social media owners when finding out about the impersonators of the identified individual. Instagram, Facebook, Snapchat and other social networking sites have kept this verified symbol without any subscription.
Twitter owner Elon Musk wants to encourage users to buy the Twitter Blue subscription on a monthly or annual basis. To retain the tick mark for their accounts, an individual must pay $8 monthly or $84 annually. Twitter had earlier stated a statement via a tweet concerning the update which will commence on April 1 but only a few users lost their check marks.

The official tweet read, “On April 1st, we will begin winding down our legacy verified program and removing legacy verified check marks. To keep your blue check mark on Twitter, individuals can sign up for Twitter Blue here”. Indicating to subscribe to Twitter Blue or lose your blue ticks if you have one.
This step was taken by Elon Musk and has impacted celebrities across the globe including Virat Kohli, Shah Rukh Khan, Alia Bhatt, Amitabh Bachchan and politicians like Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi among others. International notable personalities like Kylie Jenner, Selena Gomez, Lady Gaga and BTS are also included in the list of users who lost their blue ticks.
The decision was also opposed by many users but Elon Musk, the owner of Twitter is the ultimate decision maker. The fans are having a good time on Twitter seeing their favorite celebrities’ Twitter accounts without the blue tick which makes them ordinary Twitter users. Seems like this conclusion is not in favor of users and if they wish to retain their verified checkmarks, an individual must be subscribed to Twitter Blue.
