Everything Everywhere All at Once was the winner of the night at the academy awards as they took home multiple Oscars for Best Picture, Best Director, Editing and Best Original Screenplay, Best Supporting Actor, Best Supporting Actress, and the history-making win of Best Actress.
Michelle Yeoh won best actress at the Oscars for her role in “Everything, Everywhere All at Once” as Evelyn Quan Wang. This victory makes her the first Asian star and the second woman of color to win the best actress in the 95-year Academy Awards history. The award was previously 21 years ago won by Halle berry who became the first woman of color to own this award, Halle berry was also the one who presented Michelle yeoh with this award.
In her winning speech, Michelle Yeoh talked about the little boys and girls who were watching that there is a beacon of hope and possibilities and that her win was proof that dreams do come true. She also said that all the ladies watching should not let anyone tell them that they are past their prime and to never give up.
Her character in the fiction film “Everything Everywhere All at Once” is the main protagonist. Her character is an asian-american laundromat owner dealing with her husband, her father, and her teenage daughter. She suddenly has to help save the multiverse from Jobu Tupaki.
Michelle Yeoh is known for her roles in Crazy Rich Asians, Tomorrow Never Dies in the James Bond franchise, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, and her other known works include Memoirs of a Geisha, Reign of Assassins, Kung Fu Panda 2, Sword of Destiny, The Lady, Last Christmas, and the Marvel Cinematic Universe film Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. She starred in the fantasy miniseries The Witcher: Blood Origin on Netflix
